Crafting on the Go

  • What do we mean by this?
    • Bringing crafts to a
      • vacations
      • doctors office
      • friends house
      • coffee shop
  • What is the most unhinged crafting on the go you’ve ever done?
    • Theresa: I once knit a baby sweater while pregnant on a bachelorette trip in Napa. I even ran out of yarn and found a JoAnns to go to for more. Wasn’t too crazy because I was traveling, but didn’t really fit the vibe of the trip
    • Cecelia: I’ve been known to bring some cross stitch to the bars for a trivia night – usually I bring my crafts to friends houses. I’ve been know to also bring a whole duffle bag full of different craft options
  • Can you craft in the car?
    • Theresa: if it is a plain knit stitch I can, because I can do that without looking, but if I have to read a pattern, or visually concentrate, absolutely not
    • Cecelia: I can only really crochet in the car. I get car sick so fast and crochet stitches are easy to feel and require less looking up and down for me.
  • What are some of your favorite crafts to bring on the go?
    • Knitting smaller items (hats, socks, cowls)
    • Embroidery & cross stitch
      • Also easy to do small embroidery on clothes while on a trip
      • Cross stitched a fire truck on my son’s shirt.
    • Doodling, drawing, or bullet journaling
    • Other Options:
      • English Paper Piecing or hand quilting something small (bags, pillows)
      • Bring a craft to share! (Beading, friendship bracelets)
      • Trash journaling to document a trip or a place
      • Make paper cranes and leave them places

Craft Shopping While Traveling

  • It is fun to seek out new and local craft stores while you are traveling!
  • Where we’ve been: (we don’t travel a lot…)
    • Fancy Tiger Crafts in Colorado – sadly closed
    • Fox River Fibers – yarn store in Wisconsin
    • Can’t wait to find more! We will share on Instagram if we find any good ones!
